Preparing for this series, I did a lot of flower studies. I enjoyed learning about symbolic meaning for many flowers that grow in the Lower Mainland. Pansies stood out to me because unfortunately their name was used as a way to insult people. I think whatever was meant when someone was called a pansy — well there is power in that. Strength in softness is the most underrated thing in our world. Softness is powerful. The symbolic meaning of Pansies is thoughtfulness, loving reflection, and remembrance.
